Welcome to Stonehouse Market Garden, a new CSA in Blooming Glen, PA opening in 2016. We’re a bit different from other starting farmers. We will be offering a CSA at the reasonable rate of $600 for the season, yet with extra value added.
Joel was an award-winning executive chef in Historic Medford, NJ for 20 years and Maree is a professional writer. In addition to beginning the farm, we have combined these skills to develop a free cookbook which shows how to easily prepare wonderful fresh vegetables with recipes for each type of vegetable we grow. We will produce over 100 varieties of vegetables throughout the season and we will also likely offer prepared foods using the extra vegetables. Joel learned organic farming during 2015 at The Seed Farm, a program affiliated with Penn State, and Maree grew up on a farm and has plenty of experience in making one work. Together, we make a great team!
We are growing biodynamically, necessitated by the fact we have two sons with autism who are allergic to lots of different things. We are keenly aware of the need for what we produce, since good wholesome, cleanly grown food is the best thing to strengthen their immune systems. Ultimately, they will take a role in the farm to provide them with productive jobs, since they will not be able to work outside the home in the traditional sense. Our farm solves both for them.
To save a piece of Pennsylvania history, we are restoring an 1811 stone house with a deed dating back to Samuel Penn, William Penn’s son and an 1813 Pennsylvania bank barn. We are very happy to be stewards of this lovely old home and the land it sits on. Truly a historic treasure.
Come by to meet us. Or call us, we’d be happy to discuss the CSA in more detail. You can also send an email with any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org. Ask for your free cookbook!
